New Modern Firing Range Complex of Serbian Armed Forces

In the village of Vrtogoš near Vranje, in the presence of distinguished visitors, a multifunctional firing range complex, named after the village itself and intended for individual and collective firearms training, has been officially opened today.
It is a modern firing range, constructed as a result of joint project and investment with the U.S. Government; by putting it into operation, the Serbian Armed Forces obtained new firearms training capabilities, primarily for executing firing from convoys of combat vehicles.
The ceremony was attended by Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović with his associates, a U.S. delegation led by Brigadier General Christopher A. McKinney, USEUCOM, and Deputy Mayor of Vranje Milan Ilić.
The visitors had the opportunity to see for themselves highly competent Serbian Armed Forces’ members who performed firing with small arms and conducted a tactical live-fire exercise from moving vehicles. The American delegation was also presented with capabilities of the “South” Base and Multinational Operations Training Center, which is in charge the firing range.
Brigadier General McKinney also had the opportunity to see personally the functioning and capabilities of the firing range, so he did shooting from our automatic rifle 5.56 mm M21.
The Multi-Functional Firing Range “Vrtogoš” is intended for firing with infantry weapons caliber 5.56 - 12.7 mm, as well as with machine guns from combat and armored combat vehicles in a column, at the halt and on the move.
