The ceremony was attended by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic and Head of the General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic with his associates, Rector of the Defence University, Head of the Military Academy, numerous representatives of institutions and units of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of Serbia, and families and friends of the course attendants.
Congratulating on the completion of the course to the youngest generation of Command and Staff officers of the Armed Forces of Serbia, three officers from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and five officers from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Angola, who, alongside 39 officers from the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces of Serbia, advanced their knowledge at the 60th Class of the Command and Staff Course at the National Defence School of the Military Academy, Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic pointed out that public trust for the Armed Forces of Serbia and our education system is on the rise, and that the Military Academy is ready to educate military staff trained to respond to every security challenge.
- I am certain that you will successfully apply the knowledge you have acquired in the year of marking the centenary of the WWI and 60 years of successful work of the National Defence School in your future duties. I wish for you to use this knowledge in peace and, in the further course of your careers, to be the carriers of further development of the Armed Forces of Serbia. By using world practices in the field of military education and the contemporary training system, you have acquired knowledge that enables you to professionally and responsibly conduct tasks in all three missions of the Armed Forces of Serbia. Through the system of military education, an identity is built of a professional soldier that is honorable, loyal, trained and prepared for all challenges of their officer calling. It should not be forgotten that the defence system unifies scientific research, education technical, technological and industrial capacities, which is why it also represents an important factor in development of potentials of the entire society – Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic said.
On behalf of the students of the 60th Class of Command and Staff Course at the National Defence School of the Military Academy, the guests were addressed by the first-ranked Major Miodrag Mladenovic. He pointed out that, during the two semesters, through numerous seminars, exercises, tours, command scouts and travels, they had acquired new and more extensive knowledge of 10 subjects and had passed the same number of exams.
- In order to acquire the rank of a Command-Staff Officer, during our course, we have been introduced to contemporary security systems and security challenges, expanded our theoretical knowledge of possible challenges, risks and threats to our country’s security, from theory of tactics, operational and military strategy and management of logistic support. In a few days, we will apply the acquired knowledge in our new duties at the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia. We are convinced that we are trained to command our entrusted units and conduct Staff duties within commands and units of the Armed Forces of Serbia during assigned missions and tasks – Major Mladenovic said.
The three top students from the defence system of Serbia and all the foreign students of the 60th Class of Command and Staff Course were awarded with ceremonial daggers by the President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic.
