Friday, 4.4.2025 | Training
The infantry company from the 1st Army Brigade, which will be sent to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) this summer, has successfully passed the skills assessment for engagement in this peacekeeping operation.
For the purpose of the evaluation of the company, which was done by the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff’s Assessment Team, Tactical Exercise “Serbian Shield 2025” has been conducted at the South Base and Training Ground Borovac, this week.
During the exercise, in an environment tailored to the real situation and security challenges in the AO, members of the infantry company carried out tactical tasks, demonstrating high tactical skills, coordination and knowledge of standard operating procedures.
The evaluation results have shown that the unit is fully qualified for all the tasks stipulated in the mission’s mandate, including control of the AOR, patrolling, working at checkpoints and responding in crisis situations. The check has confirmed that team work and efficiency have been improved through previous training and tactical exercises.
The unit members are now supposed to make final preparations during which they will explore the cultural and security specifics of the region of their deployment. These preparations aim to ensure the best possible adaptation of the unit to local conditions.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying an infantry company-level unit in Lebanon since 2013, and, currently, our staff officers, a force protection platoon and a national support element are in the AO.
By participating in peacekeeping operations, the Serbian Armed Forces give their contribution to building and safeguarding peace in the world, confirming at the same time their professionalism and ability to engage forces and resources in an international framework. In addition to operational and interoperability improvement, such missions also contribute to developing international cooperation and strengthening the reputation of our country.
