SAF in Another UN Mission in the Middle East

The Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Ljubiša Diković, met today in Belgrade members of the Serbian Armed Forces who will be deployed in EU and UN peacekeeping operations in Somalia and in the Middle East.

By deploying Lieutenant Colonel Stevan Rašeta in the UNDOF, the Serbian Armed Forces will start participation in this UN mission.
The UNDOF was established by the UN Security Council Resolution 1974 to separate the Syrian and Israeli armed forces during the Arab-Israeli wars. The mandate of the mission is to maintain ceasefire and to monitor disengagement and separation areas between the armed forces of Israel and Syria.
A five-member medical team led by Major Zoran Mladenović will leave in the next few days for the EU Training Mission in Somalia (EUTM Somalia), where it will be deployed for six months.
In this mission, the members of the Serbian Armed Forces have been taking part since April 25, 2012, and currently are deployed head of the medical service and a five-member medical team.
