The Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Major General Petar Cvetković hosted today in Belgrade a delegation of the Air Surveillance and Warning (ASW) service, on the occasion of the day of that service of the Serbian Armed Forces.
With greetings for tomorrow's holiday, General Cvetkovic expressed confidence that members of the ASW service will continue to, as before, professionally and responsibly perform all the tasks so that the air surveillance and early warning system will function impeccably.
Commander of the 126th Air Surveillance, Early Warning and Guidance Brigade, Colonel Aleksandar Dučić led the ASW Service delegation at the reception.
The Day of the ASW Service — June 18 is celebrated to commemorate the date in 1915 when Serbian Supreme Command issued an order to establish permanent observation signal stations to indicate the direction of the flight of enemy planes. Based on that, only in the then 3rd Field Army, several stations were formed in the zones of the Drina, Timok and Combined Division.
