International Course on Protection of Civilians in Peacekeeping Operations

An international course on the protection of civilians in peacekeeping operations, attended by members of the Serbian Armed Forces and armed forces of six foreign countries, is being conducted at the “South” Base near Bujanovac.

This is a specialized course organized by the Peacekeeping Operations Center of the Serbian Armed Forces, the conduct of which by our Center is certified by the UN Integrated Training Service.

The two-week training activity aims to train participants to apply the concept of protection of civilians in UN peacekeeping operations.

The training program, delivered by the instructor team of the Peacekeeping Operations Center, includes theoretical contents on modern challenges and priorities of peacekeeping operations, UN standards regarding the protection of civilians, as well as practicing prescribed procedures in situations where civilian lives in the area of operations are directly threatened.

Implementation of this course strengthens the status of our center as an internationally recognized institution for training individuals and units to participate in peacekeeping operations, confirming, at the same time, the Serbian Armed Forces’ commitment to taking all necessary steps to protect civilians in these operations.
