Regular Rotation of Serbian Armed Forces’ Unit in UNFICYP

Monday, 24.3.2025 | Multinational Operations
Members of an MP squad who had been engaged in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) returned to the Republic of Serbia after handing over their duties to a new contingent.

Over the last year, they have successfully completed all intended tasks, demonstrating high competence and professionalism typical of members of the Serbian Armed Forces.

Our unit is deployed in UNFICYP as part of the British contingent and carries out a wide variety of tasks, such as taking measures to protect the engaged forces, conducting investigations, and escorting important persons. While performing its roles, our unit also cooperates with local police forces.

In addition to the MP squad engaged with UNFICYP, the Serbian Armed Forces also deploy staff officers in the Mission HQ in Nicosia. In this peacekeeping operation, members of the Serbian Armed Forces are tasked with monitoring the dividing line, preventing the renewal of hostilities between the belligerents, coordinating activities between the military and civilian parts of the mission, carrying out military police tasks and providing support in the implementation of humanitarian activities.
