Preparations of Infantry Company for Engagement in Peacekeeping Operation
Monday, 16.10.2023 | Training
Collective training of an infantry company of the Serbian Armed Forces for deployment with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon is underway at the Borovac Training Ground and South Base near Bujanovac.
The training activity is conducted in field conditions and is part of months-long preparations that members of this unit from the 2nd Army Brigade go through, in order to be fully qualified for the implementation of specific tasks in the peacekeeping operation.
After individual tactical and firearms training, carried out in the first training segment, the unit is now practicing tactics, techniques and procedures for carrying out the tasks awaiting it in Lebanon, such as patrolling, securing checkpoints, escorting convoys and controlling mass gatherings. The tactical tasks and scenarios that the unit members carry out are fully adapted to the situations they may encounter during the execution of tasks in the Area of Operation.
The unit's preparations will end next month with the implementation of a tactical exercise, during which its skills and interoperability for participation in the mission will be verified in practice.
Last week, part of the training of the infantry company was attended by representatives of the armed forces of the Kingdom of Spain who will be engaged in command duties in Lebanon within the Spanish Battalion, in which this unit of the Serbian Armed Forces is engaged.
Engagement of an infantry company of the Serbian Armed Forces in the mission in Lebanon began in 2013, and this United Nations peacekeeping operation currently includes our force protection platoon, staff officers and a group of specialists in charge of supporting the contingent.
