Beginning of International Exercise "Platinum Wolf 23"
Thursday, 15.6.2023 | International Co-operation
International Tactical Training Exercise "Platinum Wolf 23" has begun at the "South" Base near Bujanovac today with participation from members of the Serbian Armed Forces and armed forces from nine other states.
Hosted by the Serbian Armed Forces and EUCOM, the exercise takes place at the "Borovac" Training Ground and "South" Base until 27 June. The aim is to enhance interoperability and mutual understanding of the partner states’ armed forces while conducting a peace support operation in a multinational setting.
In the next two weeks, officers, NCOs and soldiers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Romania, USA, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia, about a 600 of them, will be practicing the tactics, techniques and procedures applied while being engaged in peacekeeping operations, focusing on the use of non-lethal weapons. Urban combat, defence of the base, control of mass gathering and working on the check-point are part of the exercise activities stipulated in the exercise scenario.
The importance of the "Platinum Wolf" exercises, conducted in Serbia since 2014, reflects not only in raising the capacities to plan, organize and conduct international exercises, but also SAF units’ capabilities to be engaged on multinational operations using, among other things, non-lethal weapons.
