Anniversary of Death of Colonel Milenko Pavlović

There was a commemoration ceremony in Valjevo today to mark the anniversary of death of Colonel Milenko Pavlović. He was a pilot of the Yugoslav Armed Forces who died on this day 23 year ago in a heroic battle against the far more powerful NATO aggressor.

The commemoration was attended by Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović who laid a wreath at the memorial to Colonel Pavlović, accompanied by the Air Force and Air Defence Commander and Commander of the 204th Air Force Brigade. The wreaths and flowers were also laid by the family members and numerous delegations, and Bishop Isihije of Valjevo performed the memorial service. To pay tribute to this renowned pilot, the MiG-29 aircraft performed symbolic flypasts over Valjevo today.

The laying of wreaths was followed by an address made by Chief of the General Staff reminding us of personal and professional achievements by Colonel Milenko Pavlović, a legendary Commander of the 204th Fighter Aviation Regiment.

— Milenko was born in this area showing his affinity for becoming a professional pilot since his youth. He graduated from the Air Force Grammar School and Military Academy and performed all the command duties in his service in the aviation squadron and regiment. Following that path, he became an outstanding pilot and commander, one of the best pilots of the armed forces ever. He had such commanding capacities and appearance which made people trust him. He was someone his colleges could fully rely on and recipient of multiple awards and recognitions in his glorious military career — emphasized General Mojsilović.

Milenko Pavlović was born on 05 October 1959 in Gornje Crniljevo in the Municipality of Osečina near Valjevo. He was a pilot of the Yugoslav Armed Forces and a War Commander of the 204th Fighter Aviation Regiment. He was killed in an aerial battle against the NATO aggressor above Valjevo on 04 May 1999.
