Special Brigade and Military High School marked St. Sava’s Day

Members of the Special Brigade celebrated today the Saint Patron of the unit at the “Rastko Nemanjić” barracks in Pančevo while the Military High School ceremonially marked the school festivity – St. Sava at their school in Topčider.
Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin, accompanied by the Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović, attended the celebration of Saint Patron’s Day of the Special Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces.
Following the liturgy and cutting of the slava loaf, in the presence of the Commander of the Special Brigade, Brigadier General Miroslav Talijan, PhD and the members of the Special Brigade, Minister Vulin and General Mojsilović attended the ceremony of laying the wreaths in the memorial room at the “Rastko Nemanjić” barracks.
For 13 years, the Special Brigade has been celebrating “Savindan”, the holiday of St. Sava, the greatest Serbian Saint and Enlightener as their Saint Patron.
At the Pančevo Army House, members of the Special Brigade also celebrated their Saint Patron’s Day through cultural and artistic program.
The Military High School marked marked the school festivity – “Savindan” in honor of St. Sava, the establisher of education and the first Serbian Archbishop in the ceremonial hall of the school at Topčider Hill in Belgrade.
At the ceremony, slava loaf was cut in the presence of teachers and pupils and priest of the Military High School, Second Lieutenant Slavko Papić.
On behalf of the Military High School and Military Vocational School, Lt. Col. Aleksandar Antić, greeted all those present and congratulated the festivity to the students and teachers, emphasizing the importance of marking “Savindan”.
- Saint Sava, the founder of the Serbian church and school, is a double model – an enlightener, but also a moral vertical of all of us – said Lieutenant Colonel Antić, and invited the teachers and students to continue following the path he traced.
The marking of “Savindan” at the Military High School was attended by the Commandant of the Military Academy, Major General Bojan Zrnić, members of his Collegiums, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, retired members of the Military High School, as well as present day professors and students of the Military High School.
On the occasion of today's holiday, following the ceremonial cutting of slava loaf, members of the Military High School performed in a traditional cultural and artistic program in front of all the guests.
