Large number of citizens of Krusevac gathered together today at the main city square and greeted with applause the parade within the checking of preparations for the upcoming central ceremony marking the 23 April, the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces, which is to be held on Saturday.

The checking of preparations was attended by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Aleksandar Nikolic and the Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Ljubisa Dikovic addressed the gathered citizens and members of the Serbian Armed Forces who, on that occasion, recalled the importance of the date which is celebrated as the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces, pointing out that Krusevac, because of its historical significance in the tradition of the Serbian statehood, has an important role.
He also thanked the citizens of Krusevac for their patience during preparations for the celebration, stressing that the purpose of the ceremony is to present the military in which they believe, and which is appreciated nowadays worldwide.
With the sounds of the Representative Orchestra of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard and command of Major General Vojin C. Jondic, commander of the ceremony, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces demonstrated the operational capabilities of a part of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as part of the weapons and equipment, on the eve of the Saturday ceremony. Particular attention, especially among the youngest citizens of Krusevac, attracted the static display of weapons and equipment, and the crew was there to answer all their questions.
The Serbian Armed Forces celebrates its feast on 23 April to commemorate the day when in 1815 the Second Serbian Uprising was started, which was a milestone in the creation of the modern Serbian state and the military.
On the occasion of the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces prepared a number of different activities, which include fostering military and libertarian traditions and a range of cultural, artistic, scientific and sporting events.
