Cadet Training with Armored Fighting Vehicles

Last week, the Military Academy cadets received training (armored units module) in operating the M-84 tank and IFV M-80A at the Army Training Centre, Požarevac.
The training was conducted under the future SAF officer education plan preparing them for all their duties as part of combat vehicle crews, which is a prerequisite for commanding tank and mechanized platoons successfully, a task awaiting them upon completion of their studies.
During the training, which lasted for several days, the cadets practiced operating fighting vehicles precisely in different terrain, overcoming obstacles, handling the vehicle at night, in inclement weather and on a slope as well as eliminating potential failures and performing basic maintenance of the assets. Before going to the field, future officers had mastered successfully training with the trainers which enable individual training and training of the crews for accomplishing fire and tactical missions in all conditions.
The cadets’ practical training on the assets of the armored units represents an important segment of their Military Academy curriculum; thus, conditions are created to provide SAF with officers who are trained and qualified for performing initial command duties in the armored and mechanized units of the SAF.
