The Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, is on an official visit to the Kingdom of Spain, at the invitation of the Chief of Defence of that country, Admiral Teodoro López Calderón.
The official part of the three-day visit to Madrid began today with a welcome ceremony of the Serbian Armed Forces delegation at the General Staff, which was followed by a separate meeting between General Mojsilović and Admiral Calderón and official talks between the two delegations.
The plenary meetings discussed the current security situation in the region and the world, with a focus on the security situation in Kosovo and Metohija and in Lebanon, where, in the United Nations peacekeeping operation, Serbian and Spanish soldiers are deployed together. There was also talk about the previous military-military cooperation and the possibilities for its further improvement.
It was stated that the cooperation between the two armed forces was developed and meaningful, that it was characterized by constant qualitative improvement, and that its implementation significantly improved interoperability and combat readiness. An agreement was reached to intensify activities in areas of common interest in the following period.
On behalf of all members of the Serbian Armed Forces General Mojsilović expressed his condolences to Admiral Calderón and the citizens of Spain who lost their loved ones in the catastrophic floods, stressing that Serbia was with the friendly Spanish people in these difficult moments.
