Wednesday, 6.11.2024 | Culture and traditions
Day of the Engineer Corps has been solemnly celebrated in the Serbian Armed Forces today in memory of 06 November 1865, when this branch of our army was formed by separating pontooners and pioneers from the artillery.
On this occasion, military ceremonies have been held in the engineering and pontoon battalions, where holiday greetings were read, key results of this year's work summarized, and the most successful individuals presented with awards and recognitions.
This holiday celebration was an opportunity to highlight excellent training results, equipping and modernization of engineering units, as well as dedicated and valuable engagement in providing assistance to citizens of the Republic of Serbia in eliminating the consequences of natural disasters.
The Engineer Corps is a branch of the Serbian Armed Forces intended for undertaking actions such as making and overcoming obstacles, arranging roads and putting up fortifications. The number and variety of tasks that the engineering units carry out led to the division of this branch into several specialties, so today there are reconnaissance, pioneer, pontoon, amphibious, road, bridge, and fortification and camouflage specialties.
