SEDM DCHODs Meeting

Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Petar Cvetković, participated in the meeting of the Southeast Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM) Process in the format of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, held today via video conference.
The meeting discussed the implementation of activities within the initiative in the period between the two meetings, which was marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, and a Joint Statement was adopted. It was assessed that the armed forces of all countries played a significant role in providing support to civilian authorities in the fight against the pandemic, and stressed that commitment to regional cooperation was the best mechanism for strengthening peace, security, understanding and stability in the region.
The process of cooperation between the Ministers of Defense of the countries of Southeast Europe started in 1996, and the Republic of Serbia became a full member in 2010. The main goal of SEDM is to improve understanding and intensify political-military cooperation in the region, in order to strengthen security in this part of Europe. Member countries are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Romania, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, Croatia and Montenegro.
