At the Serbian Armed Forces’ temporary training ground on the Sava River near Šabac, a stationary camp is ongoing for soldiers performing military service since March 2024 and NCO Course participants of the engineer branch.

During the training activities which last for two weeks, soldiers and future NCOs perfect their knowledge and skills obtained at the Army Training Centre, where they acquire specialist branch-specific skills in this phase of training.

During the river training, the focus is on the organization of ferries and landing crossing points, communication reconnaissance and overcoming water obstacles using standard and improvised engineering means. They also train how to use mines and explosive ordnance during specialist engineering tasks in the vicinity of waterways.

Stationary camp is one of the final specialist training segments for soldiers on military service, as well as for the SAF NCO course participants.

Soldiers are now expected to undergo a skills assessment and then collective training in the SAF engineering units until the end of their military service, while future NCOs will continue methodical and professional training according to the NCO Course Curriculum, in order to prepare fully for initial NCO duties.
