Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended today a ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the construction of a new accommodation facility for members of the Serbian Armed Forces’ Guard in Dedinje Barracks in Belgrade.
The ceremony was attended by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić, Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Lt. Gen. Želimir Glišović and acting Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Hospitality Services Boriša Roljić.
Guard Commander Col. Željko Furundžić presented the Minister of Defence with the project aimed to reconstruct a 12,500 m² building, which was damaged during the NATO aggression in 1999, and whose partial reconstruction was carried out in the period from 2003 to 2007.
On that occasion, Minister Gašić said that infrastructure was one of priority areas in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, along with equipping the armed forces with state-of-the-art weapons and military equipment.
- With the firm support of our state leadership, President Vučić and the Serbian Government, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces will continue to provide our service members with the best possible working and living conditions. We will continue to invest in the reconstruction of existing and construction of new facilities, to equip and strengthen our military, because only a strong military can be the guarantor of our safety and the guarantor of a strong and carefree Serbia - said Minister Gašić.
He stressed that the reconstructed facility would provide Guard members with excellent living and working conditions.
