Accompanied by Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović, Minister of Defense Miloš Vučević, as envoy of Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić, has laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mount Avala today on the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day.
The Minister of Defense laid a wreath as the anthem of the Republic of Serbia was played and the Serbian Armed Forces Guard stood in a ceremonial formation, after which he wrote in the memorial book:
“We are obliged by the culture of remembrance to bow eternally in front of the heroes of the liberation of Serbia. Thanks to them, we are preserving freedom and peace with dignity, striving for a future without wars. We keep building Serbia on the foundations where our glorious ancestors laid a stone. Long live the Serbian Armed Forces! Long live Serbia”.
The Serbian Armed Forces celebrate their holiday on 23 April, in memory of the day when the Second Serbian Uprising broke out in 1815, which was a turning point in the creation of a modern Serbian state and armed forces.
