The professional personnel of the artillery battalion of the 1st Army Brigade, equipped with modernized MLRS M-17 “Oganj”, are currently undergoing regular training at the training grounds of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The training activity is conducted with the aim of preserving and improving the skills of the unit members in using this modern artillery system in combat, the system which provides more accurate and efficient fire support to units during SAF operations.
In accordance with the training program, professional soldiers are improving their knowledge and skills in preparing systems for firing and performing fire missions. The focus is on applying digitized command systems, which ensure faster decision-making and greater accuracy and speed of fire.
Afterwards, the crews are supposed to undergo more complex field training and scheduled firing, where they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their tactical and firearms skills in performing the tasks in combat operations, while applying new technologies to provide artillery support.
Conducting this form of training is crucial for sustaining high combat readiness to undertake combat actions in all terrain, tactical and weather conditions that units may encounter while performing their tasks.
The M-17 128 mm self-propelled MLRS “Oganj” is a modern artillery system intended for delivering sudden and concentrated artillery fire on large targets, the introduction of which into the armament of the Serbian Armed Forces significantly improved potential for providing reliable, fast and accurate artillery support.
