Soldiers on voluntary military service from the December 2024 intake and participants in the 2nd NCO Course for Civilian Candidates have taken the oath during a ceremony held at the Field Marshal Živojin Mišić Barracks in Valjevo today.
By pronouncing the oath, they pledged in front of the flag of the Republic of Serbia to preserve and defend the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.
The ceremony has been attended by Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić, Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces’ units, local government bodies and Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as relatives and friends of the young men and women who have taken the oath.
Congratulating the soldiers and future NCOs on taking the oath, the Minister of Defense has emphasized that it is an honor and pleasure for him to participate today in the most solemn event in every soldier’s life, because “taking a military oath is a pledge of loyalty to the fatherland.”
He has said that it is necessary for Serbia to have strong and prepared armed forces – armed forces that will be a guarantor of peace and security for all its citizens, stressing that it is with unreserved help and support of the state leadership headed by Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić that investments are made in acquisitions, modernization, training and improvement of living standards.
After taking the oath, the youngest soldiers are supposed to continue intensive basic training and, subsequently, training for the roles for which they were recruited, while NCO candidates will continue their training at the Training Command centers.
