Study Visit by Students of Advanced Security and Defence Studies

Students of the Advanced Security and Defence Studies (13th class), School of National Defence ”Field Marshal Radomir Putnik”, have paid a study visit to the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff today.

The visit was conducted so that students attending these studies could gain insight into the place and role of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff in the defence system and the functions and tasks it performs as the highest professional and staff body for the preparation and employment of the Serbian Armed Forces in peace and war.

During the visit, Head of Operations Directorate (J-3), Major General Tiosav Janković, delivered a lecture to the high-rank officers, government employees and foreign armed forces’ members who are trained in these studies to analyse contemporary security environment, develop elements of the national security system and assess long-term political and security trends. 

He presented to the guests the main information, organisation, competences, command system, missions and main tasks of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as the challenges and perspectives of equipping them with modern weapons and equipment and the efforts being made to additionally improve the combat readiness of the Serbian Armed Forces. The lecture was also attended by heads of other organisational units of the General Staff.

The Advanced Security and Defence Studies represent the fourth level of special career development programmes for the Serbian Armed Forces service personnel and government employees. They are conducted in order to prepare them for performing high-ranking duties in the national security systems.
