On the occasion of 170 years of the Military Medical Academy, Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic has awarded today a Gold Plaque of the Serbian Armed Forces to that largest military health institution. The high decoration, which only the President of the state has so far received on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day, was received by Brigadier General Prof. Dr. Marijan Novakovic, Head of the Military Medical Academy.
The ceremony, held at the MMA, was attended by members of the Collegium of the Chief of SAF General Staff and Major General Professor Zoran Popovic, Chief of Military Health Department.
General Dikovic paid honours, respects and tribute to all the people who have developed the MMA in the past 170 years and pointed out that all these years can be celebrated only by those facilities that have clearly defined the goals. He also commended the initiative of the intellectual people who established 170 years ago a special form of health care for officers and soldiers, which continues to these days.
- Indeed, the members of the Serbian Armed Forces pronounce the words of the Military Medical Academy with a special respect. They come here with the hope that they will be given all necessary medical care to prolong their life, get healthy and continue with their regular activities. To be sure that you will be finally treated, means a lot for the stability, motivation and the will of the people both for life and for carrying out tasks in the army.
The Chief of General Staff wished the members of MMA to continue with strengthening their capacities, cadre, improving their knowledge and following all the aspects of contemporary medicine, in order to implement them in MMA.
- You have capabilities and capacity for that, and my desire and the desire of my associates, is to treat here also the members of the armies from the region and that they can be provided here with the best possible protection. Whether it will be so, depends largely on you. If you clearly see which way to go and pave the way for it on time, I am sure you will succeed in it. It is a great pleasure to have such an institution – General Dikovic said.
Brigadier General Prof. Dr. Marijan Novakovic, Head of MMA, thanked for the plaque and pointed out that the plaque will be a big incentive and obligation to continue to develop all aspects of their activities – treatment, scientific and research work and education.
Members of the Collegium of the Chief of General Staff then visited the MMA Clinic for Internal and Emergency Medicine and the Hyperbaric Chamber.
