At the Borovac Training Ground and South Base near Bujanovac, members of the Serbian Armed Forces are being trained to use MP combat vehicle VPB M-86 in peacekeeping operations.

The training activity is attended by officers and professional soldiers who will be performing the roles of crew commanders, drivers and gunners of combat vehicles in the mission, and it is only one segment of thorough preparations that last several months prior to deployment to the area of operation.

The training program that is delivered by instructors from the Army Training Center and 3rd and 5th MP Battalions covers theoretical and practical training in study rooms and training grounds. The participants are now acquiring knowledge and skills in field conditions needed to overcome obstacles and drive vehicles safely in rough terrain, training at the same time to use and maintain them and eliminate possible malfunctions, as well as to handle weapons and perform fire and tactical tasks.

Driving instructor from the Army Training Center Second Lieutenant Aleksa Mičić has emphasized that after mastering successfully the thematic contents of the three-week training activity, members of the Serbian Armed Forces are supposed to be evaluated and awarded a certificate of successful completion of training, which is a requirement for participation in peacekeeping operations.

One of the training participants, Sergeant Major Siniša Milenković from the 4th Army Brigade, has emphasized the importance of this training for refreshing the existing and gaining new knowledge, adding that it helps execute successfully all tasks in a multinational operation.

— I already have experience with this combat vehicle, considering that I was on a mission four years ago, but any additional knowledge that I am going to get from the instructor is very important for the execution of tasks — said SM Milenkovic.
