Tuesday, 3.12.2024 | Training
Intensive collective training of the Serbian Armed Forces platoon that will participate in the peacekeeping operation in Lebanon is underway at the South Base and Borovac Training Ground.
This Training Command unit is now completing the final phase of preparations that last several months prior to deployment to the area of this UN operation.
After individual tactical and firearms training done in the first training phase, the platoon is now practicing the tactics, techniques and procedures for carrying out tasks in Lebanon, such as securing checkpoints, escorting convoys and controlling mass gatherings. The tactical tasks and scenarios that unit members are fulfilling are fully tailored to the situations they may encounter in the AO.
The training activity ends in mid-December with the conduct of a tactical exercise in which the unit’s ability to engage with UNIFIL will be checked and evaluated.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a force protection platoon in UNIFIL since 2014. The main task of the unit is to secure the base where UN forces are stationed. In addition to this platoon, the Serbian Armed Forces also deploy an infantry company in Lebanon, as well as staff officers and a group of specialists in charge of supporting our contingent.
