In the barracks "Dedinje" in Belgrade, today is marked May 6 — Guard Day in memory of the day when the first guard unit in Serbia was formed by the order of Prince Miloš Obrenović on St. George's Day 1830 in Požarevac.
As the part of marking the day of the unit, a wreath was laid at the monument to Prince Miloš Obrenović in Požarevac yesterday, while the Guards Park was opened in Zemun with 190 trees planted and "lined up" in a tree line to form the Garda inscription.
On the occasion of the holiday, a solemn gathering was organized at which congratulations were read and awards and recognitions and letters of thanks were handed to the best individuals, while a memorial service was held for the fallen members of the unit.
Today, along with the cutting of ritual brad, it was marked St. Patron day of the Guard — St. George's Day, and all activities took place in full compliance with the prescribed measures to combat and prevent the spread of the infectious disease covid 19.
