Members of the pontoon units of the Serbian Armed Forces have dismantled today the pontoon bridge that connected Zemun Quay with the Great War Island on the Danube River.

During the entire summer season, a crew from the pontoon unit was on duty at this place, which was responsible for the safety and maintenance of the bridge, in order to provide citizens with unhindered access to the Lido Beach in Zemun.

The pontoon bridge, 354 meters long and with a total load capacity of 20 tons, made up of 38 pontoon ferries, was installed in mid-July, while today’s dismantling and transportation to its home location marked the end of this year's summer season at this popular swimming resort on the Danube.

In cooperation with the touristic organization of the City Municipality of Zemun, members of the Serbian Armed Forces have been bridging the Danube from the Great War Island to the Zemun bank for years, and in addition to the benefits for the citizens, it is also an excellent opportunity to advance the skills of the pontoon units in executing intended tasks.
