Participants in the Slavic Brotherhood exercise arrived to Serbia

Members of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, the participants in the multinational exercise ‘Slavic Brotherhood 2016’, landed today at the Batajnica airfield.
Members of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, the participants in the multinational exercise ‘Slavic Brotherhood 2016’, landed today at the Batajnica airfield, where they were welcomed by Brigadier General Zoran Velickovic, Commander of the Special Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces, officer for the exercise planning.
At the tactical exercise, which is to be conducted from 3 to 9 November, at airports and training grounds of the Serbian Armed Forces, 212 members of airborne troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, 56 members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and 450 members of the Serbian Armed Forces will take part.
Welcoming the participants in the exercise, General Velickovic pointed out that this is a traditional exercise which is conducted for the third time with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the context of international military cooperation, and the second one, with colleagues from the Republic of Belarus.
The aim of the exercise is to improve and increase the operational capabilities, primarily in anti-terrorist activities, together with members of the Russian and Belarusian armed forces – General Velickovic pointed out, adding that the joint practicing of members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus will be held from 3rd to 6th November in the Oresac Automated Tank Firing Range, Pasuljanske livade Combined Arms Training Ground, Kovin and Batajnica airfields, and the exercise itself will be conducted at Pasuljanske livade from 7th to 9th November.
According to Major General Oleg Olegovich Polguyev, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Airborne Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, one of the best units of the special forces of the Russian airborne troops conducted transport of forces to the Republic of Serbia, where they will show in the coming days how to successfully engage potential enemies.
We will prove that the Russian airborne troops are capable of fulfilling the tasks in the specified time with an excellent score – General Polguyev said.
First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Special Operations Command of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Colonel Oleg Ivanovich Peichevsky, expressed his gratitude to the Serbian and Russian colleagues who have enabled the Belarusian Armed Forces to participate in this exercise, stressing that the units of the Belarusian airborne troops are able to perform all the tasks with the highest marks.
During the exercise, led by Colonel Miroljub Cupic, Deputy Commander of the Special Brigade, the execution of the parachute and helicopter assault, assault operations on armoured combat vehicles, securing of the assault area, execution of march, occupying blockade line, attack on a terrorist base, surveillance of insurgent positions using drones, artillery preparation for attack, close air support, medical evacuation, engagement of hijacked vehicle and destruction of an explosive device will be shown.
Today, members of the Ensemble of the Airborne Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation together with Stanislav Binicki Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence held joint concerts in Nis, on 6th November, starting at 7 pm, for members of the Armed Forces and the general public, and in Pancevo, on 13th November, for the exercise participants.
