River Units Day and River Flotilla Day

A military ceremony has been held at the “Aleksandar Berić” Barracks in Novi Sad today marking the Day of the River Units of the Serbian Armed Forces as well as the Day of the River Flotilla.
In front of the ceremonial formation of the River Flotilla members, on the occasion of the holiday, the results of this branch and unit in the year behind us have been outlined, the best ship and best crew awards were handed, while the outstanding individuals received awards and commendations.
Looking back on the results of the recent period, it has been pointed out that the River Flotilla has completed successfully all assigned tasks on inland waterways and contributed to strengthening the operational capabilities of the Army and Serbian Armed Forces on the whole.
Day of the River Units and Day of the River Flotilla are celebrated on 19 August in memory of the day when the first Serbian warship — armored boat “Jadar” — was launched from the Čukarica slope in 1915, which marked the beginning of the rich history of the Serbian river war flotilla.
