Day of River Units and Day of River Flotilla Marked

A military ceremony on the occasion of the Day of the River Units and Day of the River Flotilla of the Serbian Armed Forces has been held today at the “Ušće” anchorage in Belgrade.
As part of the holiday celebration, the results achieved by this branch and the unit in the year behind us were summarized; recognitions were presented for the best ship and best crew, and the most successful individuals received awards and commendations.
Looking back on the results achieved in the recent period, it has been pointed out that the River Flotilla is a modern unit of the Serbian Armed Forces today, which remembers proudly its history and tradition and is professionally and technically qualified to carry out tasks on navigable rivers, canals and other flowing and stagnant waters of the Republic of Serbia.
The Day of the River Units and Day of the River Flotilla are celebrated on 06 August in memory of the day when, in 1915, the first Serbian warship - armored boat “Jadar” - was launched from Čukarička Padina, which marked the beginning of a rich and glorious history of the Serbian River Flotilla.
