At the military complex "Medja", preparations of the Serbian Armed Forces tank personnel are underway for this year's, eighth in a row, participation in the International Military Games in the discipline of Tank Biathlon.
Preparations for the competition of tank personnel, which will be held this year from August 22 to September 4 at the Alabino training ground near Moscow, have started with ten crews, from which three competition crews and one reserve crew will be selected. At this stage of preparation the focus is on individual training, regularity in work, execution of shooting and compliance with safety measures.
The competition in Tank Biathlon involves overcoming a training ground where tank crews have the task to cross a track about four kilometres long in the shortest possible time, regularly overcome all obstacles on the track and hit targets with a tank cannon, fixed to turret machine gun and anti-aircraft machine gun, and it consists of three phases: individual races, semi-final relay races and final relay races.
In the individual race, each of the three crews competes separately in the group that was drawn. Achieved times of all three crews are added up and the team is ranked according to those times. The first eight teams continue to compete in the semifinals. A penalty circle is driven for each missed target, and for each incorrectly overcome obstacle, the crew is sent to a place for "tank inspection".
