Promenade Concert of Niš Military Orchestra

On the occasion of 23 April - Day of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Military Orchestra of the Land Forces “Niš” performed today a promenade concert from Kralja Milana Square and Obrenovićeva Street to King Aleksandar Squarein Niš.

Numerous citizens watched the performance of the Niš military band, under the conductor’s baton of Dejan Đorđević, which started the paradewith the piece “Mojadomovina” (“My Homeland”).
Welcomed by the thunderous applause and compliments following each number, the military musicians performed famous marches, among them “Marš na Drinu” (“Marsh to the Drina”), “Kraljevagarda” (“King's Guards”), “Vojvoda Stepa Stepanović”, “Aleksandar Prvi” (Aleksandar I”) and “Milan Obrenović”. The Promenade concert brought the greatest joy to the youngest who marched to the sounds of the wind instruments.
The conductor of the military orchestra, Captain Đorđević, said that the citizens were delighted with the performance of the Military Orchestra “Niš”.
- Military music is a very important segment for military moral development and cultivation of traditions, stressed Captain Đorđević, adding that the Niš military orchestra nurtures compositions that are characteristic of military music.
Dragana Petrović from Niš says she enjoyed the performance of the Niš military orchestra.
- It is not the first time I watch the parade of the military orchestra and I am really thrilled. I am very fond of this kind of music since it awakens the sense of patriotism in me - says the lady from Niš and adds that she loves the Serbian Armed Forces.
According to Ana Stamenković from Aleksinac, military music is something that reminds us of the history and tradition of the Serbian people and believes that the military musicians should perform more often.
The Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces celebrate the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces–23 April, in memory of the Second Serbian Uprising, raised on the same day, at the holiday of Cveti (start of the Passion week), in 1815 in Takovo.
The Promenade Concert will also be performed by the Representative Orchestraof the Guards, starting at 12:30 on Sunday, 21 April from Knez Mihailova Street in Belgrade and finishing on Savska Terrace, in Kalemegdan, where the military drill of the Guards will be performed from 13.00.
As traditional greeting, starting the celebration of the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces, a gun salute will be performed on Monday, 22 April at 5 pm on the Sava Terrace on Kalemegdan.
