Wednesday, 29.5.2024 | International Co-operation
Based on the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan with the Republic of Cyprus, members of the National Guard of that country have been staying in the Republic of Serbia for combat training with self-propelled howitzers 155 mm B-52 M15 “Nora”.
The Cypriot soldiers have been trained by instructors from the Mixed Artillery Brigade, whose armament includes this modern artillery system. During the two-week training activity, they learned the tactics of using the howitzer and how to handle and fire the howitzer on their own in accordance with set standards and norms for effective operation of this combat system.
The final training activities took place at the “Pasuljanske Livade” Training Ground, which included gun emplacement, reconnaissance, detection of targets and acquisition of firing elements, and, subsequently, preparatory and live firing using the self-propelled howitzers.
Excellent results of the artillery firing confirm that the Cypriot crews were provided with high-quality training at the Mixed Artillery Brigade and that the training objective was fully attained.
Today’s firing activity at the “Pasuljanske Livade” Training Ground has been attended by Ambassador of Cyprus to the Republic of Serbia His Excellency Andreas Fotiou.
The training of members of the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus, whose armament includes Serbian self-propelled howitzers “Nora”, is one of the numerous activities of bilateral military cooperation between Serbia and Cyprus aimed at strengthening mutual confidence and building force capabilities.
