New Commander of the Joint Military and Police Force

Applying various methods of the state border securing, the Joint Force have discovered more than 17.500 migrants who have tried to illegally cross the state border.
The Joint Military and Police Force have been engaged in the securing of the state border since 22nd July 2016. Applying various methods of the state border securing, the Joint Force have discovered more than 17.500 migrants who have tried to illegally cross the state border whereas 1150 migrants have been placed in the reception centres throughout Serbia.
In a few coordinated actions, together with the police administration in charge, the Joint Force have caught 112 smugglers who have tried to illegally take more than 1000 migrants over to the north of our country by cars, vans and on foot.
We remind you that Major General Zelimir Glisovic, Army Deputy Commander, has been appointed the Commander of the Joint Force by powers of the President of the Republic. General Glisovic was in charge of the work of the Joint Force Command consisting of representatives of relevant state authorities and commanded the Joint Military and Police Force in a challenging situation, securing 464 km-long state border with Bulgaria and Macedonia.
According to powers of the President of the Republic, the new Commander of the Joint Military and Police Force starting from today will be Brigadier General Mile Jelic, the 3rd Army Brigade Commander. Handover of duty of the Joint Force Commander has been conducted today.
Due to change in migratory flows and a new route for illegal crossing of the state borders and human trafficking, the Joint Force have established a new Sector “G” responsible for stoppage of illegal crossing and human trafficking at the part of the state border with Montenegro.
