Training of Reconnaissance Units in Overcoming Water Obstacles
Monday, 5.8.2024 | Training
Members of the reconnaissance company of the 4th Army Brigade are undergoing summer training in carrying out specific tasks in the areas outside their peacetime disposition.
This is the final segment of this training cycle, during which reconnaissance units practice overcoming water obstacles with standard and improvised vessels and perform tactical tasks in different environments, applying camouflage measures and covert movement.
Officers and soldiers undergo training in operating landing boats, making rafts from barrels, tires and other materials, as well as in performing reconnaissance of water obstacles and objects on them.
They also practice the use of modern observation means and systems, whose introduction into service largely improved the capabilities for observation, collection and processing of intelligence.
The commander of the reconnaissance platoon points out that in the last three weeks, they have completed several important topics, focusing on the work of the reconnaissance bodies in the enemy’s rear area.
— Members of the company have undergone training in independent outdoor nutrition, as well as in performing various tasks aimed at collecting intelligence data in the enemy’s rear area. During the second week, training was carried out in swimming, wrestling and the use of knife, which is a prerequisite for independent performance of all tasks, while the third week was devoted to training in overcoming water obstacles. New members of the reconnaissance company have been trained in the use of standard assets for overcoming water obstacles, as well as improvised assets made from things that can be found near river objects, such as barrels, boards, tires, and other materials that float and can help overcome some water obstacle — says the platoon commander and adds that these are very important segments in order to complete the task in all weather and combat conditions.
According to him, each training phase ended with a small-scale exercise, during which it was checked to what extent the reconnaissance units had acquired knowledge and how they applied it in nature.
This training activity is part of regular exercise activities of reconnaissance units in summer conditions, and is carried out in order to sustain a high level of competence in performing specific tasks deep within enemy lines.
