Guard’s Drill – Egzercir

The first record about the close-order drill – egzercir was on St. George's Day in 1924 at the hippodrome “Careva Cuprija” in Belgrade, at the ceremony of marking the Day of the Guard and the regiment. Since then, until the World War II the drill was traditionally performed every year.
The Honour Guard

The Guard units have been established since the earliest times in order to provide ruler’s security. Over the centuries, the personal bodyguards of the ruler have always been the most loyal part of the military and the last protection of the sovereign. Their members have always been carefully selected since they have been expected to be capable of accomplishing the most difficult tasks and to face the most dangerous situations.

The specificity of the Guard is its military orchestra, which has been its part since the establishment. Apart from performing the tasks of the military and state protocol, they have actively participated in the development of our people’s culture as well.
The Guard House

By advocating of the commander of the King’s Guard and later the Prime Minister, Division General Petar Zivkovic, opposite one of the fountains in the Guard Park, two representative residences were built – the Guard House and the Headquarters of the King’s Guard. Both have been built in academic architectural style with pilasters, capitals and tympanums on side walls.

Gun Salutes are customarily fired for giving military honours during the official visits of foreign heads of states, at military parades, state and military celebrations as well as for marking special occasions on certain days of the year in the Republic of Serbia.
