The Use of the Serbian Armed Forces
The Serbian Armed Forces can be used in peacetime, case of emergency and wartime, in accordance with the law and decisions made by the authorized state institutions.
Reaching a decision on the use of the Serbian Armed Forces is conditioned by the security situation in the region and the world, the level of state’s vulnerability, available resources and spatial and weather conditions.
The use of the Serbian Armed Forces comprises peacetime activities and planning, preparations and realization of combat and non-combat operations.
Certain units of the Serbian Armed Forces are used for performing public and protocol tasks at the state level.
The basic peacetime efforts of the Serbian Armed Forces are directed towards building and strengthening operational and functional capabilities, for the purpose of deterring aggression and preventing armed conflicts. The aim of this deterring is to make the enemy give up their planned intentions.
The peacetime use of the Serbian Armed Forces comprises different activities, which are usually performed in cooperation and coordination with other forces of the Defence System of the Republic of Serbia, as well as forces from partner and friendly states.
The Serbian Armed Forces can perform combat and non-combat operations in peace, and their parts can be engaged in multinational operations, in accordance with law.
The Serbian Armed Forces are main forces in combat operations, whereas in non-combat operations they serve as support to other forces of the Defence System.
The use of the Serbian Armed Forces in case of emergency is regulated by law, and coordinated by the Mobilization Plan of the Serbian Armed Forces, Plan of Use of the Serbian Armed Forces, and decisions made by the President of the Republic of Serbia.
